PROGRAMS
Power Together: Energy Solutions for Colorado Communities explores how well energy programs in Colorado are working for people. Sometimes, people may not know these programs exist, or if they do, the applications are hard to fill out, the rules can be confusing, or they can’t understand the language. These programs are meant to help with all kinds of energy needs, from lowering bills to switching to cleaner transportation. For example, did you know these programs are available?
1. Bill Assistance:
Programs like LEAP and Energy Outreach Colorado’s (EOC) Bill Payment Assistance Program help households manage energy costs. They offer special discounts to income-qualified households to keep them warm during colder months. Other programs, like the Colorado Medical Exemption Program through Xcel Energy, provide discounted electric rates for customers who need life-support equipment or have medical conditions that lead to high energy use.
2. Energy Upgrades:
Initiatives like the EOC’s CARE program or the Colorado Energy Office’s (CEO) Weatherization Assistance help families lower their utility bills by upgrading insulation, sealing air leaks, and providing energy-efficient appliances at no cost to qualified households.
3. Solar Energy Options:
Xcel’s Solar*Rewards program makes solar energy available to homeowners and renters, while Xcel and the EOC’s joint project, Community Solar Gardens, helps communities reduce energy costs without needing home installations.
4. Electric Vehicle (EV) Support:
Most charging happens at home. Xcel Energy offers rebates and programs to help you get an electric car, install a charger, and find the best pricing plan.
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU
If you signed up for these programs — or tried but couldn’t —we want to hear from you.
Power Together’s Community Action Partners (CAPs) work with the community to find ways to make these programs easier to use and better suit local needs. By talking directly with residents, CAPs bring important information back to LCFC and Xcel to help make these programs work better for everyone. When you share your experiences with CAPs, you help make renewable energy available to more people like you.
